Summer is almost over, and like many, we are sad to see the warm weather and long days fade away. For many, the kids are back in school and holiday season has come to end. Don’t let this get you down, it's a great time to update the interior of your home, and what better way to update than painting. It's difficult to have renovations or projects completed when the entire family is around and in the home all summer. Let this time of year inspire you to paint over any of the dirt, grime and hand prints that may have accumulated over the busy summer months.



We recommend painting any high traffic areas of the home this time of year. Hallways, Kitchens, Bathrooms and even play rooms tend to see a lot of use over the summer. Depending on the paint product your walls currently hold, it may prove a challenge washing or scrubbing the grease or hand prints off the wall. A little soap and water goes a long way, however, if you don’t have the right product on the walls you may wash some of that colour and finish off.


But don’t fret, many of Canada's leading paint suppliers offer products that are durable, washable and scrubbable. You may pay a little more money for these products but its well worth it. Depending on the surface and application we tend to recommend a higher end product for inside the home. Depending on your budget, many paint retailers offer a wide range of products that have a washable feature.


Our favourites to work with are Benjamin Moores Regal in an Eggshell finish or Sherwin Williams Duration in a matte finish. These two products retail upwards of 65.00/Gallon but there are many more which fall short of that. If you’re repainting a bathroom, we suggest using a paint that formulated for moisture and have anti mildew/fungal properties. Benjamin Moore Aura Bath and Spa is a wonderful product that comes in a matte finish, Sherwin Williams Harmony is another fantastic product for bathrooms.
